You work on complex, technical, or abstract topics. To share your work, you require a clear and compelling story. We help you to make one. To do so, we use our own method that combines techniques from the analytic and creative world: Analytic Storytelling.

Aims
The course Analytic Storytelling enables you to build a clear and convincing story from complex content. Using these skills you can adapt your story to any type of communication and type of audience. (Blog articles, policy or project proposals, presentations, grant applications, internal memos.)
Result
- Learn to structure your complex content into a clear story that is well understood and remembered by your audience;
- Learn to make your story more concrete using techniques from creative storytelling in books, movies and theater;
- Apply the acquired skills on all occasions where you need to inform or convince others: blog articles, policy or project proposals, presentations, grant applications, internal memos;
- Build a storyline for your topic during the course that you can directly use afterward.
Methods
The course is based on our Analytic Storytelling method, covering the topics below. During the course you will practice your skills on a individual case of your choice. You will receive written and verbal feedback from both your trainer and your group members.
- Adapt your story to your audience;
- Structure your storyline and message;
- Add a rich and concrete context;
- Making clear text or striking images to support your story.
Fees
The total cost of this training will be reimbursed from the budget which was allocated by the Staff Career Centre for the YUFE alliance. This implies that your participation is free of charge.
Instructor
Stijn Cornelissen, founder of Analytic Storytelling. All our trainers have broad experience in analysis, communication and argumentation.
Number of participants
Minimal 5 and maximal 8 participants per group
Duration
The course consists of two videoconference sessions totaling 4-4.5 hours, spread over 2 days. Before and between these sessions, you work on individual assignments. In detail, the course looks like this:
You join two videoconferencing sessions, totaling 4-4.5 hours:
- A group session on day 1 of the course from 10.00 – 13.00 h.
- A subgroup session for feedback on your assignments on day 2 of the course. This session takes 1-1.5 hour. We set a time for that hour during the group session.
Before and between these sessions, you work on individual assignments:
- Leading up to day 1, you follow a preparatory online module including an assignment (± 2-3 hours).
- Between day 1 and 2 you work on assignments. (± 4-6 hours).
